Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal has asked Jusco to make clear its stand on supplying water to illegal settlements.
The DC held a review meeting on various water supply projects and water supply in non-company areas.
Sources said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues related to water supply in view of the summer season.
The meeting was also attended by the additional deputy commissioner Ganesh Kumar, executive engineers of drinking water and sanitation department, special officers of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality, Nirmal Kumar on behalf of Jusco and Arnab Ghosh of Jusco Water Management. It was decided to supply water through tankers in Bagbera, Ghaghidih, Parsudih and Karandih.
The DC said the district administration was going to take every possible step to ensure that the people of the various localities get adequate water supply during the summer season. He directed the officials of the various civic bodies to take necessary measures to provide drinking water to the people.
The special officers of JNAC, MNAC and Mango Notified Area Committee said they were going to supply drinking water to the various localities through tankers. Tankers will carry water to the various localities both regularly and on demand, officials said.
District administration officials said the problem of water crisis was imminent in many areas and residents of many localities had already started facing problem. In view of the situation, efforts are being put in to repair handpumps in all the localities.
Officials said funds had been granted by the district administration to get the handpumps repaired. Once the handpumps are repaired, the problem will be greatly solved and people will get the much needed relief, they said.
