Conduct physical verification of basic civic amenities

Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar and SSP Anoop Birtharay jointly visited several clusters and polling booths in Baharagora and Ghatsila Assembly constituencies to conduct physical verification of basic civic amenities for voters.
During the visit, the DC issued instructions to the cluster and polling booth officials. He said the Election Commission of India had directed the administration to ensure basic civic amenities at all polling booths to make sure the voters cast their votes in a hassle-free manner.
The DC had recently held a meeting to review basic amenities at the polling booths across the district. He asked the officials concerned to submit a report on the same by 31st March after physical verification of facilities prescribed by the ECI.
The DC and SSP especially looked for facilities like drinking water, toilet, power supply and ramp for differently-abled citizens. They also inquired about availability of furniture in school buildings lying vacant post merger with other schools. They said basic civic amenities should also be made available at cluster points where security personnel and election duty staff would be putting up for polls.
Many district administration officials were present during the visit.
