Jamshedpur, August 13 : The fifth DAV Public School Bistupur Model United Nations (DBMUN) kicked off on Tuesday at DAV Public School-Bistupur in Jamshedpur as part of its two-day annual event. DBMUN gives a platform to school students to showcase diplomacy in their very early stages of life.

More than 150 students of Classes X, XI and XII from more than 17 schools across the steel city and other cities participated in three mock sessions of United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Lok Sabha; United National Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Fifth World Conference on Women (FWCW).

The model United Nations (MUN) is organised to give school students an idea of diplomacy and discovering their interest in international relations. It was an exhilarating experience for all the participants as they took the role of ambassadors of different countries. They learnt the workings of the UNO and about the issues facing the world. It taught them to be diplomatic while at the same time safeguarding the peace of the world.

The committees in UNHRC, UNSC; and Lok Sabha and FWCW discussed current issues, debated and brain stormed its crisis and will the pass a resolution on the lines of the United Nations.
While the UNHRC discussed HR violations of refugees and asylum seekers on the first day, UNSC debated the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The Lok Sabha on the first day debated on the importance of National Register of Citizens (NRC). The FWCW�discussed role of women in the fight against major non state extremists.
