Jamshedpur, Jan 18: The middle and high school students (Std. IV to Std. IX) of the DBMS English School organized an exhibition on tribal handicrafts and also showcased tribal dances of India and Africa on Saturday, Jan 18 for the ongoing ISA programme, titled �Tribal Handicrafts.�
Tribal art, which is the foundation of any culture, is fast disappearing due to modernization.
This project is an attempt on the part of the students to promote this art and to show the similarities in tribal art across the world, be it in India or the partner countries of Africa.
Dr. Armel of Africa was the Chief Guest on the occasion while the programme was inaugurated by the Joint Chairperson of the Managing Committee, Lalitha Chandrashekhar and Dr. Armel.
The Secretary Hema Raghavan, Treasurer Lakshmi Vardharajan, Principal Rajani Shekhar, Vice-Principal P. K. Sahu, the Co-ordinators of different levels, teachers, parents and students witnessed the exhibition, dance and applauded the show.
The guest were very much impressed with the programme put up by the children. The ISA Co-ordinators, Srividya Narayan and Anjali Ganeshan, the teachers incharge � Renu Arora, Dhiraj Ranjan Rai, Rohini Sathaye, L. Durga, Shobha Nair, Mitali Subramanian and Hemant Kumar were actively involved in making this programme a grand success.
