Father Shiv Shankar, who is a Tata Steel employee, had on Sunday night lodged a missing report with the Kadma police station after making frantic search for him in the relatives’ house and also in the locality.
” We are in state of shock. I had given a missing report with the Kadmapolice station last night, but this morning someone informed me that three boys in the age-group of 14-15 had come to the Domuhani last afternoon and were taking bath there. During the bath, one of the boys was drowned, prompting two other boys leave the spot with the cloths. I along with my relatives and neighbours started searching for the body, which was ultimately fished out from the Subernarekha by a local diver which the police had engaged,” said Shiv Shankar.
Shiv Shankar said one of the two other boys was also a resident of ECC flat, but had denied any knowledge about Sumeet’s drowning in Domuhani.
“Though we had shown the photograph of my son and also that of his friend in ECC Flat to a couple of fishermen who had seen the tragic incident and they had identified one of my son’s friends, the one who stays at ECC flat from the photograph despite that he denied any knowledge about him,” informed the father.
The police have sent the body to MGM Medical College mortuary having registered a case of unnatural death.
A relative said they are shocked as there was no need for Sumeet to take bath in the river while there was facility of piped water at home.
“Sumeet might had gone to enjoy the holiday by an outing along the river side along with his friends and incidentally had started taking bath,” said the relative.
