DBMS College spreads awareness on ills of ragging among students

 

Jamshedpur, August 18: The Anti-Ragging Week (August 12–18), sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), concluded at D.B.M.S. College of Education with a series of awareness activities and competitions.

During the week, the college’s Anti-Ragging Committee conducted a student survey through a link provided by the UGC. To spread awareness, students were engaged through documentaries and selfie corners carrying anti-ragging messages. The campaign culminated on August 18 with creative competitions, including poster making, logo designing, essay writing, and slogan writing. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their ideas on the importance of standing united against ragging.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, who urged students to work collectively to end ragging. She also shared detailed information about the legal provisions to curb ragging on campuses. Appreciating the creativity and participation of students, she congratulated the winners and presented them with certificates and mementos.

The winners of the competitions were: Poster Making: 1st – Saumini Das, 2nd – Insha Siddiqui, 3rd – Sunita Gagarai. Logo Design: 1st – Siddhi Jalan, 2nd – Eliza Samad, 3rd – Reema Roy. Essay Writing: 1st – Trisha Sarkar, 2nd – Rupa Kumari, 3rd – Arpita Chakraborty. Slogan Writing: 1st – Jyoti Kumari, 2nd – Shivani Singh, 3rd – Chandmuni Munda

Anti-Ragging Cell coordinator Dr. Surina Bhullar Singh proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by College Secretary Shripriya Dharmarajan, Co-Secretary Sudha Dilip, Vice-Principal Dr. Monica Uppal, faculty, staff, and students.
