Jamshedpur, Dec 3: The NSS Unit I of D.B.M.S. College of Education celebrated the birth anniversary of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, along with its NSS Orientation Programme, in the college Multipurpose Hall on Tuesday. The event was conducted with great enthusiasm and aimed to inspire students towards service and simplicity.
The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge and national service. It was jointly anchored by Neelu Kumari and Parimal Pal.
The cultural and academic presentations started with an inspiring Hindi speech by Pooja Kumari, followed by an English speech by Neha Kumari, highlighting Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s life, values, and contributions. A documentary on his life was later presented by Srishti Kumari and Muskan Kumari, earning appreciation from the audience.

A heartfelt Hindi poem was recited by Rupa Kumari, after which Semester II students sang the NSS theme song.
In the second segment, Alisa and Insha informed students about the objectives and structure of NSS. Rohit Poddar shared his motivating experience from the NSS Kurukshetra Camp, encouraging more students to participate actively in national service.
Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita addressed the gathering and inspired students to follow the principle of “simple living and high thinking,” citing anecdotes from Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s life.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Baby Rani Jana, followed by the National Anthem. Programme Officer Poonam Kumari prepared the event outline. College secretary Sri Priya Dharmarajan, joint secretary Sudha Dileep, Principal Dr. Samarpita, Vice-Principal Dr. Monika Uppal, faculty and staff contributed to the event’s success.
