DAV schools pay tribute to Munshi Premchand on 139th Birth Anniversary

Nuwamundi, July 31: Legendary Hindi and Urdu master story teller Munshi Premchand whose short stories and novels still remain relevant was remembered with reverence on his 139th birth anniversary. Munshi Premchand�s actual name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastava and he started his literary forays with the pen name Nawab Rai before switching over to the name that has stayed on through the years to be immortalized through his creative genius.

The students, teachers and staff of Tata DAV Public School, Nuwamundi today paid rich tributes to legendary Hindi and Urdu writer Munshi Premchand on his 139th birth anniversary. A portrait of the immortal writer was garlanded and floral tributes paid on the occasion.

In his address on the occasion, the school in-charge Uday Kant Chowdhary described Munshi Premchand as a visionary and upholder of prevalent social ways in a manner that is relevant in today�s scenario too. �Munshi Premchand gave a new direction to story writing narratives. His works comprise a dozen novels and more than 300 short stories that continue to leave an impact on all strata and segments of society,� he observed. Hindi teacher Arun Kumar Mishra and student Sanjana Mukherjee also spoke on the occasion dwelling on the relevance of Premchand�s writings.
