Jamshedpur, July 30: The DAV National Sports, Cluster Level Tournament – 2025, for Cricket, Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, Boxing, Wushu, and Athletics began with great enthusiasm at DAV Public School, Bistupur, Jamshedpur. Held on July 30 and 31, the two-day sports meet features 264 students from nine DAV schools: DAV Baheragora, DAV Chaibasa, DAV NIT, DAV Noamundi, DAV Gua, DAV Chiria, DAV Bistupur, DAV Bundu, and DAV Jhikpani. The competitions are being conducted across four different venues.

The opening ceremony at the school premises set the tone for the spirited tournament. All participating teams proudly lined up and sang the DAV Gaan. The DAV Sports Flag was hoisted by Mrs. Pragya Singh, ARO of DAV Public Schools Zone-E and Principal of DAV Public School, Bistupur. She also lit the ceremonial torch and handed it over to Sports Captain (Girls) Garima Kashyap, Sports Captain (Boys) Saransh Raj, Deputy Sports Captain Mayank Kumar, and Fiza Khan for the torch relay. Singh officially declared the Cluster Level I Tournament open.
In her welcome address, Singh emphasized the importance of sports in shaping character and resilience. She encouraged greater participation, stating that at least 25% of the student body should be involved in sports. “A sportsperson is better equipped to deal with life’s challenges, and participating in sports teaches one to cope with the pressure of both winning and losing,” she said.
She also highlighted the significance of the DAV Sports Tournament pathway, explaining that winners at the cluster level will qualify as state-level players, and zonal winners will move on to represent at the national level.
Following the inauguration, students proceeded to their respective venues for the competitions. The day witnessed remarkable performances and high levels of sportsmanship. DAV Bistupur stood out by clinching victories in Cricket (U-14 and U-19 Boys) and showcased dominance in Taekwondo (U-17 Boys and U-14 Girls) by securing three gold and three silver medals. In Boxing (U-17 Boys), DAV Bistupur added another gold to their tally by defeating DAV NIT. The Karate events witnessed close contests among DAV Chaibasa, DAV Chiria, and DAV Bistupur.
With zonal-level competition on the horizon, these young athletes are now setting their sights on even greater achievements.
