Jamshedpur, April 28: DAV Public School, Bistupur, hosted the Jamshedpur round of CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest 2016 in the school premises. CCCC 2016 which is open to all saw participation of students of Classes 9 to 12 from 10 different schools of Jamshedpur.
As per the tradition of DAV schools, the program commenced with DAV anthem. Raj Narayan Singh, national co-ordination CBSE, introduced the contest and briefed the contestants about the rules and regulations.
Each team consisting of two students solved the written cryptic crossword puzzle containing 25 questions from the given clues. There was a neck to neck competition among the contestants and Riddha Sarkar and Akash Radhakrishnan of DAV Public School, Bistupur, emerged as the winners, whereas Abhishek Kumar and R. Prashant of Carmel Junior College, Jamshedpur, were declared the first runners up.
The chief guest Pragya Singh, principal, DAV Public School, Bistupur, gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up. In her address she said that crossword puzzles help students to enhance their vocabulary, lateral thinking, reasoning and analytic abilities.
The schools which participated in the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest city round include Carmel Junior College, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, South Park, SDSM School, DAV Public School, Bistupur, St. Mary’s English High School, DAV NIT, South Point School, Mango, AIWC Academy of Excellence, Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Telco, and KPS, Burmamines.
