Jamshedpur, March 9: The second Bird Festival at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary commenced on Monday, bringing together bird enthusiasts, experts, and nature lovers from across the country.
The three-day festival, organized by the state forest department, will continue until March 11 and aims to promote the conservation and identification of diverse bird species found in the Dalma region.

Globally known for its population of wild elephants, the Dalma forest is also regarded as a biodiversity hotspot.
The sanctuary is home to hundreds of rare and colourful bird species, making it an ideal destination for birdwatching and ecological studies.
The festival has been organized to highlight this rich natural heritage while encouraging conservation efforts and spreading awareness about the importance of protecting bird habitats.

Around 100 bird enthusiasts have already registered to participate in the festival. In addition, several ornithologists, wildlife experts, and nature lovers from different parts of the country have arrived to take part in the event.
The festival provides a unique platform for participants to learn about bird species, share experiences, and explore the sanctuary’s diverse ecosystem through guided birdwatching and interactive sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Rajeev Ranjan Singh said that this is the first time such a bird festival is being organized in Dalma forest in Jharkhand.
He noted that the event will help increase awareness about the wide variety of bird species found in the region and give new recognition to biodiversity conservation efforts in the state.
