D-day today, Jamshedpur candidates keep fingers crossed, some visit temples others interact with party workers

Jamshedpur: As the final countdown for the election counting kicks-off, contestants and their supporters are fully engrossed in the guesswork as to their political fortunes which remain sealed in the EVMs inside strong rooms of Jamshedpur Co-operative College.

Most the MLA aspirants remained inside to their homes  today. A few did come out for visiting temples and meeting party workers.

The counting for six assembly constituencies of East  Singhbhum — Jamshedpur East , Jamshedpur West, Jugsalai, Ghatshila, Potka and Bahragora  — will take place at the Jamshedpur Co-operative College in Bistupur from 8 am.

The likes of independent Saryu Roy (Jamshedpur East), BJP�s Devendra Singh (Jamshedpur West), Menka Sardar (Potka ST),  Kunal Sarangi (Bahragora), Mochiram Bauri (Jugsalai SC ),   Lakhan Mardi (Ghatshila ST), JMM�s Sanjib Sardar (Potka), as well as Ajsu Party�s Pradip Balmuchu (Ghatshila), JMM�s Ramdas Soren (Ghatshila), Ramchandra Sahis (jugsalai) and Bullu Rani (Potka),  Congress  aspirants Banna Gupta   and Gourav Vallabh did not turn up at the vote counting venue.

Chief minister Raghbubar Das, who is in a direct contest with Roy from his bastion Jamshedpur  East, is expected to arrive in the city late in the evening.

Most of the candidates spent time at their homes, discussing about their fate with party workers. Menka visited a temple in Potka while Sahis spent time with supporters at Jugsalai. Mochiram also went to party office in Jugsalai.

Roy, on the other hand, consigned himself to his Bistupur residence, said a close aide. Gupta did milking his cow and watering plants at his Kadma home.

�On the basis of the reports received so far from the constituency, we are confident that BJP candidates from all seats of Kolhan will emerge the winner. Almost all the political analysts of the city has expressed confidence over his victory are we all assured,� said Anil Modi, of BJP.

He said that every party worker was involved in the election campaign and worked hard to mobilise the voters.

Meanwhile, in every nook and corner of the city the discussions are on full swing over the fate of contestants in fray for Assembly election.

�The only topic we had for discussion in our office was about tomorrow�s counting. People have their own opinion but I certainly feel that Saryu Roy is the local favourite,� said Amlan Chakravarty, an employee of a private bank.

Leaders of JMM are also confident of JMM candidates. Mahabir Murmu, a senior functionary of district JMM said that people would vote the party to power.

Activists of Jharkhand Vikash Morcha are also equally excited. �Abhay jee has given a tough fight to all the contestants and people have shown faith in the leadership of Babulal Marandi, we are confident that our candidate will rise in tomorrow�s counting exercise,� said a senior leader.

�The reports coming in from the remote polling stations in the Ghatshila sub division have suggested our position is as good as it is in the urban area and we are confident of winning the seat,� said a BJP leader
