D.B.M.S. College Jamshedpur to host international conference on green initiatives

NGOs to showcase environmental initiatives, 52 technical papers to be presented

Jamshedpur, Dec 11: D.B.M.S. College of Education is set to organize a two-day international conference titled “Harnessing the Power of Education to Embrace and Adopt Green Initiatives” on December 13 and 14. Sponsored by Tata Steel, the event aims to foster awareness and action on environmental protection through education, said Dr. Joohi Samarpita, Principal of D.B.M.S. College.

Addressing a press meet on Wednesday, Dr. Samarpita informed that conference will bring together distinguished guests, experts, and participants from India and abroad.

Seven NGOs from across India, including Praxis and Vinisha from Kolkata, House of Grownest Coimbatore, and Koru Foundation Jamshedpur, will showcase their environmental initiatives. Nandan Mall, CEO of Hulladek Recycling, an e-waste management NGO based in Kolkata, will be the Chief Guest for the closing session. Tata Steel UISL will also make a presentation on its environmental and pollution control efforts.

Hari Kumar Kesari, Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University, will be the event’s patron. Chief Guest Saryu Roy (MLA, Jamshedpur West), Special Guest Dr. Sanjeev Anand (CVC, Kolhan University), Guest of Honour Rituraj Sinha (MD, USIL), Keynote Speaker Ashish Srivastava (Dean, BHU, Varanasi), and Dr. Apratim Sahay (Co-Director, Johns Hopkins University, USA) are among the eminent attendees.

“The conference will feature 52 technical papers presented across seven sessions. Researchers and academicians from institutions such as Arka Jain University, TMDC, and Amaltas College will chair the sessions and share insights on topics like zero waste and sustainable practices. Notable speakers include Deepak Soni from Koru Foundation and Apurva Sahay from the Rocky Mountain Institute, USA. Various technical sessions will be chaired by Professor Dr Sharad Sarin from XLRI, Professor Sunil Sarangi, Ratna Choudhary from Bihar, Apoorva Sahay from USA,” added Dr. Samarpita.

A refereed journal and a book compiling research articles will be released during the event, and all paper presenters will receive certificates. The Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse model will serve as the conference’s guiding principle, with presentations focusing on innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Dr. Joohi Samarpita emphasized the significance of hosting the first-ever international conference on environmental protection in Jamshedpur. The event aims to inspire students and the community to actively contribute to environmental preservation.

The conference promises to be a landmark event in promoting green initiatives through education, paving the way for a sustainable future.
