Cyclonic Storm Yaas plays spoilsport, power supply goes haywire in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The power supply system has been hit by cyclonic storm Yaas on Wednesday. The electricity department was forced to stop power supply in many areas in view of the apprehension of a severe storm from around 1 pm on Wednesday.

The electricity department had shut down the power supply in Bodam and Patamda blocks in view of heavy rains in Patmada, Bodam, Chandil areas adjoining Bengal in East Singhbhum district.

Officials said that the electricity will be restored in Patamda and Bodam areas once the rain and wind speed slows down. The 33 kV Birsanagar and Jugsalai feeders near the Golmuri grid and Jemco chowk were deteriorated due to heavy rain and wind.

The repair work is going on but due to heavy rains, the work was affected at the moment. In many places, branches of trees fell on the power infrastructure due to heavy rains, causing damage. In view of this, power cuts have been done in the Azadnagar and Jawaharnagar areas of Mango. An 11 KVA electric pole has been damaged in the Dumaria block of the district.
