Cultural extravaganza marks Sourav’s Golden Jubilee Celebration in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 31: In commemoration of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the city’s cultural institution ‘Sourav,’ a mesmerizing array of cultural programs was presented by trainee artists at Sourav Bhawan on College Road in Pramathnagar, Parsudih. The event, held under the auspices of the institution, commenced with a welcome song. The chief guest on the occasion was prominent social activist Shekhar Dey.

Shekhar Dey was felicitated by the organization’s secretary Ashim Moitra with a shawl, bouquet, and a memento. Praising the extensive cultural and social initiatives undertaken by Saurav over the past five decades, the chief guest lauded the socio cultural organization’s unparalleled contribution in promoting Bengali culture throughout society.

In his address, Shekhar Dey assured support to Saurav’s efforts in propagating and expanding Bengali culture through cultural training, promising assistance in the noble endeavor. The welcome address was delivered by the organization’s President, Sujit Mukherjee. A two-minute silence in honor of the late Navendu Pal, former Joint Secretary of the organization, was observed.

The cultural extravaganza featured a diverse range of performances, including group dances of varied moods, classical songs, group guitar performances, collective tabla playing, sub-classical and modern songs, and classical vocal rendition based on Raga Durga. The event concluded on a high note with a captivating Kathak group dance presentation on Teen Taal.

The instrumentalists included Shantashree Dasgupta, Kaushik Das, Malay Mandal, Swapan Mukherjee, Subhrashekhar Mukherjee, and Pradeep Pal. The vote of thanks was delivered by Swapan Kumar Das. Swapan Das anchored the event.

The success of the program was attributed to the dedication and cooperation of all active members of the Saurav organization, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey of promoting Bengali culture.
