Ranchi: Jharkhand government has decided to form a corporate social responsibility (CSR) committee within a month to monitor the CSR activities of various companies in the state.
Chief Secretary Sudhir Prasad, who held a meeting with the state industry department on Tuesday, directed the authorities concerned to prepare a list of companies, institutions and public sector units (PSUs) in the state carrying out CSR activities in the state.
�A letter would be sent to the Central government to direct its companies located in Jharkhand to spend their CSR funds. The coal companies of the state are also polluting the environment. They should also ensure their greater participation in the CSR activities by making available more funds for such activities,� said Prasad.
The Chief Secretary emphasized on creation of a CSR hub in the state. He said state and district level teams of professionals should be set up to monitor CSR activities of companies. All companies should appoint a nodal officer who would furnish details of CSR expenditure of the companies to the government.
Prasad reviewed the turnover, profit and expenditure of the companies located in the state.
The companies reviewed include CCL, MECON, Bokaro Steel, Tata Steel, Tata Motor, HINDALCO, Uranium Corporation of India Ltd, CMPDI Ltd, HEC Ltd, J.P. Associates, Usha Martin, ACC, Ramkrishna Forging, Adhunik Alloys & Power, Tata Blue Scope, Imperial Chemical Industries, Gomia, Inox Air Products, Bokaro, Tata Power, Jojobera, Jamshedpur, Tayo Rolls Ltd, Adityapur, Tata Pigment, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur, Tata Rayson, Jamshedpur, Tata Cummins, Jamshedpur, Indian Explosive Ltd, Gomia, Hindustan Copper Ltd, Ghatsila, Prax air Gas, Jamshedpur, Steel Strip Wheels, Jamshedpur, Tinplate, Jamshedpur, JSPL, Patratu, BCCL, Dhanbad, DVC Power Units, Tata Power(Maithan and Jamshedpur), Essar Power, Chandwa, Indian Oil Bottling Plant, Bokaro, Electro Steel Plant, Bokaro, Atibir Industries, Bihar Caustic, Palamau and JMT Auto, Jamshedpur.
