CSIR Capsule Exhibition organized at Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur: CSIR is celebrating this year as Platinum Jubilee year of CSIR. As a part of the celebration, CSIR, New Delhi is organizing exhibition nicknamed as ‘Capsule Exhibition’ at various CSIR Laboratories located in major cities of India, highlighting the major achievements of CSIR in Scientific & Industrial research.
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur is going to organize three-days CSIR Capsule Exhibition as a part of CSIR Platinum Jubilee Celebrations during September 21-23, 2017. The thematic choice of this exhibition rests on ‘Technologies, Products & Technological Services’.
The contributions of all 38 laboratories of CSIR in the context of Nation building will showcased in this exhibition under the broad headings of ‘Mining, Minerals & Materials’, ‘Engineering & Infrastructure’, ‘Chemical & Petrochemicals’, ‘Aerospace & Strategic Sectors’, ‘Ecology & Environment’, ‘Health Care & Genomics’, ‘Agriculture & Floriculture’, ‘CSIR for Societal Interventions’, ‘Energy’, Food & Nutrition’, ‘Leather’ & ‘Water’.
The objective of this event is to disseminate the knowledge in terms of Technologies, Products & Technological Services of CSIR as a whole to attract Academia, Industries, R&D fraternity and common people of India to know the contributions of CSIR since 75 years of it’s journey towards the development of New & Digital India.
The exhibition may provide the industries an ample opportunity to know the latest development of CSIR in the field of Science & Technology and also, it will encourage the industries the possibilities of tying up with any laboratories of CSIR.
Dr. I. Chattoraj, Director NML welcomed the Chief Guest Anand Sen, President TQM and Steel Business, Tata Steel Ltd., Chief Executive Officer of Small Scale, Medium Scale and Large Scale industries of Jamshedpur, Directors of Academic Institutions, Principal/Vice-Principal of Local Schools and Colleges of Jamshedpur, NML retirees, scientists and Team CSIR-NML present. Dr. Chattoraj traced the history of CSIR for its 75 years of journey in the form of development of technologies, products and technological services. He mentioned about the New CSIR to fulfill the aspirations of New India. – (1) Leadership in Science: Strive for global scientific impact, (2) Innovation in Technology: Catalyze innovation-driven industry, (3) Human Resource for Tomorrow: Nurture trans-disciplinary leadership, (4) Inclusion in Empowerment: Enable inclusive economic development.
Chief Guest Anand Sen congratulated Team CSIR for their fruitful completion of last 75 years and appreciated the contributions made by CSIR towards the Science & Technological development at the National and International level. He mentioned that although CSIR is contributing to the problems at generic level it also needs at specific level, which is a collaborative – industry interactive model. Further, CSIR is re-inventing itself to address IP generation and global competition to emerge as Global S&T leader. It is playing a Pivotal role in partnering and strengthening Indian industries in the fourteen areas as mentioned earlier.

After the inaugural session, more than 1500 students from various schools, colleges, technical institutions, engineering colleges visited exhibition stall. They expressed their happiness and showed the excitement of scientific and industrial development of CSIR.
An Industry conclave was also organised on the same day under the mentorship of Anand Sen, President TQM & Steel Business, Tata Steel Ltd. The panelist were Amitava Sircar, COO, Usha Martin Ltd., Dr. Ashish Bhaduri, COO, Tata Bluescope, Prof. P.P. Chattopadhyay, Director, NIFFT, Prof. Atul Pathak, XLRI, AB Lall, Head, M&CVBU, Tata Motors, SK Behera, VC & MD, RSB Global and Dr. I.Chattoraj, Director, NML.
Anand Sen delivered a speech on the lack of co-ordination between research institutions and industries for global challenges. Afterward a panel discussion was organized to discuss on the topic of future role of research institution and industries for the growth of Indian economy. In the interactive programme of this conclave give the fruitful result for the future co-ordination of research institute and industry for the growth and prosperity of India.
