Ranchi, Jan. 17:Reviewing the Cooperative Banks, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma directed the MDs to ask Cooperative Bank correspondents to ensure opening 50 bank accounts every month.
She said that BCs should be selected from those panchayats where banking facilities are negligible. She directed to open cooperative bank branches in every block.
Mrs. Verma said to remove those cooperative bank correspondents who are not performing well and appoint educated sakhimandal, dugdhmitra and fishing friends in their place.
She also asked to form a four member district level committee with animal husbandry and fisheries officers to maintain transparency in the selection process. She directed the govt. bank officials to complete Aadhar seeding work.
The bank officers told the CS that places for opening 23 new branches of banks have been identified and Aadhar seeding of 65% bank accounts has been done.
1000 BCs have been selected and all of them have been provided micro ATM. The CS directed to select 1000 more BCs to cover at least 2000 panchayats.
