CS lays emphasis on special work plan for sports and sportsmen

Ranchi, Oct. 17: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today directed state officials to chalk out a work plan to promote sports and sportspersons for different sports at national and international level.

She said all sportspersons selected for the national teams should be allotted diet food fund separately so that they could be made physically capable. She said so while reviewing the works of the state Tourism, Art, Culture and Sports Department.

Verma said that special proposals should be formulated for training selected students for national and international games in a national level sports academy. Moreover, sports should be prioritized in all government schools so that rural students could be promoted in various sports.

She also directed to prepare the list of such players who have participated in the Olympics or the Asian Games and National Games. She said that pension schemes should be made for those players who have made the nation proud in national and international games and are working presently as daily workers for livelihood.

The CS directed officials to do profiling of all 130 sports centers so that sports related facilities across the state could be assessed and planned. She also asked them to hold state level sports events annually in the line of the national games.

Those sportspersons who are getting away from the games should be coordinated by the department and the responsible factor should be sorted out. It was informed by the department officials that presently 78 students are getting training in different games against the departmental target of 250.

Reviewing the tourism spots, the CS directed that all basic infrastructures run by JTDC should be mapped for the development of tourism spots.

She said that JTDC should be strengthened to promote tourism. She said that tourism should be branded, documentary should be made on it and a celebrity should be considered for promoting tourism in the state. She laid stress on making a proposal for the investors’ summit.

The department said that presently 83 basic infrastructures are run by JTDC which includes hotel, tourism complex, ropeway and marketing complex.
