CS calls for e-payment system project in Panchayati Raj

Ranchi, Feb 5: Chief Secretary R.S. Sharma today directed for simplifying the system of e-payment in the Panchayati Raj Department.

He was speaking at meeting with the Information Technology officers with regard to implementation of the e-payment system project in the Panchayati Raj.

At the meeting held at the Project Building, the Chief Secretary agreed to the proposal of hiring manpower for the Panchayati Raj Department at the district-level and the state-level for the project.

He said that District Project Management Unit (DPMU) and State Project Management Unit (SPMU) would leverage the project.

He stressed on IT- driven arrangements at ground-level. Chief Secretary said that the work of data entry operators to be engaged at the Panchayat level should be evaluated automatically, and directed the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to develop a programme to calculate as how many entries the individual Panchayat was doing.

Information Technology, Principal Secretary, N.N. Sinha, Panchayati Raj, Principal Secretary, L.L. Khiangte along with other officials was present at the meeting.
