Jamshedpur: A CRPF jawan shot himself dead with a rifle at the paramilitary forces Karampada camp under Naxal infested Kiriburu police station area of the adjoining West Singhbhum district. The 50-year-old jawan Umeed Singh, who belonged to CRPF’s 197th battalion, was a resident of Churu district of Rajasthan.
A CRPF official said that as per our initial investigation it is a case of suicide and family dispute may be the reason behind the tragic end of the jawan. He used his service rifle to end his life.
“The prima facie it was a case of suicide. Singh was not keeping well for mental ailment and depression. This might have led to the suicide. His family members have been informed they will take a call over the last rites to be performed,” said the official.
