CRPF Director General visits Ghatshila, asks rebels to surrender

Jamshedpur : Director general, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), K Durga Prasad visited Kalchiti village located under Ghatshila police station area and close to Bengal border on Wednesday morning.

Prasad went to the rebel-hit Ghatshila and took stock of the CRPF picket under the CRPF battalion No 193 and its trooper located at Kalchiti located seven kms away from the Bengal border.

During his stay at the CRPF picket, the CRPF head moved around the picket, interacted with CRPF jawans and took stock of the prevailing situation.

Prasad went to the Ghatshila from Ranchi in a chopper at 9 am and left for Bengal having inspected the Kalchiti picket by 10 am.

“We want the those who have deviated from their social path to join mainstream without any hesitation. There is nothing to stop accepting the deviated youth back in the social mainstream.

The government will extend all help and co-operation for establishing such people for becoming a successful citizen,” said the 59-year-old director general while talking over the surrender policy of the government.

Talking to the media persons near the Kalchiti picket, Prasad said the persons whom the society has termed `naxal’ may return to the social mainstream by surrendering themselves before the administration.

“Anyone willing to surrender may take the help of any politician, any journalist or even a police officer. The government will provide all co-operation in establishing such people in the society,” said the visiting CRPF officer.
After talking to the media persons, Prasad had visited the picket and subsequently talked to the CRPF officers posted under the Battalion No 193.

�It is really very important work in more coordinated manner and most importantly one must learn from the past mistakes of not being casual to the established security norms while combating extremist forces,� asserted the DG.

Sources revealed that during the meeting discussions were held on a number of issues, all pertaining to anti-naxal operations. He was learnt to have given directives to his subordinates as to how to go about for operations in Singhbhum and South Chhotanagpur region, where rebels make use of landmines the most.

Commanding officer, CRPF, 193 battalion, Sanjay Kumar Singh who was accompanied with the visiting director general, said this was his courtesy visit to the Kalchiti picket.
