Jamshedpur: There is no let-up in crimes that gripped the steel city. While the police is yet to crack the alleged abduction of trader of Mango Bhagwan Das Gupta, an yet another crime rocked Mango today.
A 50-year-old man was shot dead this evening by a mob of 25 youths in front of his wife at their house in Olidih under Mango police station area.
Surendra Singh, the victim, worked as a bus agent in Sitaramdera bus terminus. After the firing incident Singh was rushed to the emergency ward of MGM Medical College and Hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
The police failed to arrest anyone in this connection till the report was being filed. The police have registered a case of murder against 25 unidentified persons on the statements by Dharamshila Devi, wife of the murder victim.
“I am in a state of shock and am never imagined this sort of incident would ever happen to my husband. I opened the door to find a group of angered youths gathered outside of my house. They asked for my son Manoj, but when I said he was not in the house, they started vandalizing the house and my belongings. When my husband came out and protested a youth took out a pistol and shot at my husband on point blank range,” Dharamshila Devi said while talking to the press persons.
Police are yet to make any headway in the incident while the accused are still at large. The police have not been able to identify any of the assailants involved in the crime. Officer-in-charge of Olidih Police Outpost, Shusma Kumari, said that the killers wanted to murder Manoj the only son of the victim
