Jamshedpur, Feb 29: Unidentified bike-borne criminals looted Rs 3 lakh from Adityapur-based a private company staff near Ram Mandir under Bisturpur police station area.
According to information, Ajit Kapoor (55) was walking towards Bistupur market after withdrawing the amount for his company, Bhalotia Engineering Pvt Ltd in Adityapur, from the Punjab National Bank’s Bistupur branch when the incident took place.
Superintendent of police (city) Chandan Jha confirmed about the loot and said that the crime was committed by two bike-borne criminals.
ďAs per our initial probe the victim had first gone to Axis Bank at the Voltas Building for some work and from that bank he went to the Punjab National Bank’s Bistupur branch on Diagonal Road from where he withdrew Rs 3 lakh which he kept in a bag.
After withdrawing the money he crossed the road and was going toward the Bistupur market on foot as the criminals came in a bike from the opposite direction and snatched away the bag,” Jha said.
The City SP said that the case is genuine, but they are trying to find out why the victim was going toward Bistupur market area with so much cash in a bag, adding that investigation is on.
A police officer said more than two criminals must be involved in the crime.
Kapoor said he has working for the company since the past over 20 years and would deposit and withdraw cash in big amount regularly, but had never fallen victim to such crime before like this happened today.
