Criminals dare police, loot gold chain in Sidhgora

Jamshedpur: Two motorcycle-borne criminals snatched a gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh from the deputy vice principal of Graduate College Dr Uma Sinha at Sidhgora in broad daylight on Thursday.

Sources said one of the culprits snatched the chain from Dr Sinha after slapping her. As the victim turned to see who it was, the accused snatched her chain and ran towards a motorcycle waiting nearby in start condition. The two culprits escaped on a red bike.

The incident took place around 2 pm between Road Number 8 and 9. The place was isolated. The victim was returning home after shopping from Sakchi when she was intercepted by the looters.

Police began investigation into the incident. They have received footage of the incident captured by a CCTV camera installed outside a house in the locality where the crime was committed. An FIR was registered by the victim with the Sidhgora police station in this connection.

DSP Virendra Kumar Yadav and other police officials reached the scene and probed into the incident. He said cops would be conducting raids to nab the accused on the basis of the video footage. He said the role of local criminals in the incident could not be denied.

The victim told police about the appearance of the looters and their vehicle. She said she raised an alarm after the incident. But the culprits managed to escape on the bike before anyone could come to know of the incident.
