Jamshedpur, Nov 15: Acting on a tip-off, Jugsalai police on Saturday arrested a suspected criminal carrying an illegal country-made pistol along with live ammunition.
The arrest was made during a swift operation launched after police received specific information about the accused’s movement in the area.
According to police sources, the team intercepted the suspect during routine surveillance and recovered a desi katta and live cartridges from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody.
Police officials said that the arrest is a significant step in curbing illegal arms circulation in the Jugsalai region.
The accused is being interrogated to ascertain the source of the weapon and whether he is linked to any local criminal syndicates.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
