Jamshedpur: In a concerted effort to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety, the district administration, under the directives of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, conducted a rigorous investigation campaign targeting heavy vehicles parked illegally along the National Highway.
The operation, led by Motor Vehicle Inspector Suraj Hembram, focused on the stretch of highway from Dimna Chowk to Baliguma and Pardih. During this campaign, over 50 vehicles were inspected, and fines were imposed on more than 30 vehicles found to be unauthorizedly parked on the side of the highway.
The comprehensive investigation involved meticulous checks of key documents such as fitness certificates, permits, insurance, and pollution control certificates for large vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and Hyva. The campaign revealed several discrepancies: one vehicle was found to have an expired tax, while many others had lapsed permits and insurance.
Suraj Hembram emphasized the dangers posed by illegally parked vehicles, highlighting their role in causing road accidents. “Road accidents occur due to vehicles parked illegally on the roads. Whether it is a heavy vehicle or any other vehicle, they should be parked in designated parking areas to prevent any loss of life or property,” he stated.
In a stern warning to all heavy vehicle operators, the Motor Vehicle Inspector made it clear that illegal parking along the highway, particularly from Kali Mandir, Pardih to Baliguma, would result in vehicle seizure and fines. The Transport Department plans to maintain a continuous vehicle checking campaign, ensuring that legal actions are taken against any operators found violating traffic rules.
The district administration’s proactive measures reflect its commitment to road safety and the enforcement of traffic laws. By penalizing unauthorized parking and ensuring compliance with vehicle documentation, the administration aims to reduce road accidents and enhance the overall safety of the highway.
The investigation campaign has received positive feedback from the local community, who appreciate the administration’s efforts to ensure safer roads. Residents along the highway have long been concerned about the risks posed by illegally parked heavy vehicles, which often obstruct traffic flow and increase the likelihood of accidents.
Looking ahead, the district administration plans to implement additional measures to further enhance road safety. These include the installation of more visible signage indicating designated parking areas, increasing the number of parking spaces for heavy vehicles, and organizing awareness campaigns for vehicle operators about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
The administration also intends to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to conduct regular patrols and surprise inspections. This coordinated approach aims to create a culture of compliance and responsibility among vehicle operators, ultimately leading to safer roads for all users.
