Jamshedpur: In a proactive move to ensure food safety during the upcoming festive season, Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has directed a rigorous testing campaign across the city. Acting on these instructions, Food Safety Officer Mohammad Manjar collected food samples from various street food vendors near Jubilee Park Gate. The collected samples, including items like papdi chaat, dosa, schezwan hot chutney, chilli sauce, upma, chicken chilli, sambhar, and roll masala, will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Namkum, Ranchi, for quality testing.

During the drive, food stalls such as Rajdhani Chart, Virendra Dhami Thela, Anand Dosa, Gopal Dosa, Raunak Egg Roll, Raju Dosa, Raj Egg Roll, and Rahul Dosa were inspected, and vendors were instructed to maintain hygiene and use only potable water. Street vendors were also advised to ensure their vending machines remain clean and sanitary. Those without valid food licenses or those whose licenses have expired were urged to visit the Food Safety Office at the Food and Drug Administration Building, Civil Surgeon Office Campus, Khasmahal, to apply for or renew their licenses.

The Food Safety Officer issued a strict warning against using newspapers or printed paper and plastic for serving fried hot food items such as samosas, pakoras, jalebis, kachoris, vadas, and dhuskas. Additionally, vendors were reminded to use only FSSAI-approved natural and artificial food colors, adhering to the 100 ppm standard for items like sweets, cabbage Manchurian, and chicken Manchurian.

With the Holi festival approaching, the administration has assured that this food safety campaign will continue unabated to safeguard public health and ensure that only quality food reaches consumers.
