Jamshedpur: In a decisive move to strengthen arms control and public safety, the East Singhbhum district administration has imposed an immediate ban on the operation of two arms and ammunition shops in Jamshedpur.
A public notice has been issued, alerting licensed arms holders and the general public about the action. According to the notice, the two establishments were found operating without valid and active arms dealership licences.
The shops identified are Premier Arms Corporation (Arms & Ammunition) located at Akashdeep Plaza in Golmuri, and A.T. Daw & Company (Arms & Ammunition Dealers) situated at Bharucha Mansion, Regal Building, opposite Bistupur police station.
In the absence of a valid licence, the administration has prohibited these shops, with immediate effect, from selling or purchasing arms and ammunition, undertaking repair work, or storing firearms and cartridges—even for security or maintenance purposes—until further orders. The district administration has also cautioned that the premises may be sealed after a review, should violations continue.
Both shop owners and arms licence holders have been advised to exercise utmost caution. Special instructions have been issued to licensed arms holders who had deposited their firearms at these shops for safety or repair. They have been directed to retrieve their weapons within one week.
The administration has made it clear that any arms found at the premises after the stipulated period will be the sole responsibility of the respective licence holders. This action is being seen as a significant step by the district administration towards curbing illegal arms-related activities and reinforcing regulatory oversight in the interest of public safety.
