COVID test essential for commuters from Bengal, Odisha to Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 31: East Singhbhum district health authority has made it mandatory to subject every commuter coming from Bengal and Odisha to undergo Covid test at the checking points in the district from Wednesday.

“We have started increasing the vigil. Those visiting the district from Bengal and Odisha will have to undergo the tests. Whereas the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in the urban areas will be carried on in government health hubs like MGM Medical College Hospital, Sadar Hospital, Khaasmahal and the private-run Tata Main Hospital, in the rural areas the test will be carried out at the primary health centers, “said an official.

He further added that the positive cases are almost to reach 19000 mark. The steps are being taken to ensure that the cases are under control.  “We want to increase vigil as people are still flouting norms like wearing masks and maintaining social distance. The vehicular movement through Dobo-Kanderbera road and Mango Bridge has increased and we have set up a new check post to nab those violating norms,” he said.

Revealing about the drive, East Singhbhum district civil surgeon, AK Lal informed that on Wednesday along the department has set up a target to conduct 2,000 tests at the urban area and 400 tests at each of the nine blocks in the district.  He said that they are subjecting every commuter coming from Bengal and Odisha to Covid test at the checking points in the district.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Nand Kishore Lal confirmed about the fresh drive for the Covid test.  ” In order to increase the tests we have ordered for 10,000 RAT kits to the state health department and we are expecting them to reach here soon. As soon as the RAT kits come, the health officials put them for the use, ” Lal said.
