Jamshedpur, April 11: The rerun of COVID has pushed back the nation to where it was in 2020. In fact, this time, the viral attack has packed a deadlier punch and is creating a dangerous high of infections in cities and rural areas. Jamshedpur presents an alarming picture with the rate of infections growing by the day and creating unenviable records to boot.

The government can introduce lockdowns and curfews but cannot prevent coronavirus infections. The latter power rests solely with the people. The government can expand arrangements for COVID infected persons but then again, it is the people who hold the key to fight back the viral attack.

The sudden spurt in COVID cases after the infection graph had substantially climbed down is due to human impertinence. All had been made aware that the best measures against COVID infection were wearing masks, maintaining at least a distance of two meters and avoiding crowded places.

The rising trend of coronavirus infections is almost symmetrical to the growing trend of vaccination. But this vaccination boon has become a paradox in the sense that most people, after taking the shots, have turned almost nonchalant and roaming around in a carefree manner devoid of protocol adherence. They seem to feel that once vaccinated they would not be infected. This in spite of the fact that WHO authorities and other experts have been constantly warning that recklessness during COVID’s second run could have destructive repercussions. And that is exactly what is happening. The COVID vaccines are preventive and not curative but who is listening?!

The death rate due to coronavirus infection is also sky-rocketing. People are being unable to perform the last rites of their dear ones. Those infected are either lying in some distant COVID care centre or in solitary confinement or home quarantine. The COVID holocaust striking again could have been avoided had people used masks, maintained social distancing and avoided crowding or crowded places.
The cat is out of the bag again. the infection has resurfaced with a greater vehemence. But there is still time to survive and let survive. The only lifeline is follow the COVID guidelines.
