Covid infections down but not out in Jamshedpur, festivities with preventive protocols: TMH’s Dr Rajan Choudhry

Jamshedpur, Oct 23: The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has improved from 84.17 per cent to 87.32 per cent this week at city-based Tata Main Hospital (TMH).

 During a telephonic press meet, Dr Rajan Choudhry, advisor,TMH and former general manager, medical services, Tata Steel, said that the number of positive case is on decline. However, people need to be careful during the festive season.  

The hospital has treated 3817 patients so far. The admissions at the hospital this week was 73 while last week it was 62. Number of deaths has also reduced from five last week to one this week.

The positive sign of improvement is also reflected from the fact that the positivity rate in RT-PCR tests has reduced from 6.30 per cent to 4.88 and Antigen Test has come down from 3.80 per cent to 2 per cent.

Answering queries, Dr Rajan Choudhry, said that during the week for the first time the number of positive cases being treated at the hospital reduced to 99 in past six months.  

�The impact of the virus is reducing but we need to be careful. We should celebrate the festival with family and friends but we must avoid crowding. Mask is must and we must keep a distance of 6 feet. We must adhere to social distancing and avoid crowding. If we remain serious about the protocols the virus will further reduce significantly,� he noted.

 He also went on to inform that about 210 patients have consulted at TMH post Covid19 care and counselling clinic. Sensing the need of those patients who recovered from coronavirus, the hospital has started the clinic. TMH is among six such clinics authorised by the State Government.

The advisor informed that 60 percent of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 are showing signs of weakness while 10 percent have complained of lung problems. The clinic is providing consultancy and counselling to such patients who want further treatment.
