Covid checking drive intensified at Tatanagar

Jamshedpur, Aug 29: In view of  the possible third wave, the Covid checking drive has been intensified at the Tatanagar railway station.
The A-1 category Tatanagar railway station assumes significance as it falls on the Howrah- Mumbai main line. Currently, the station witnesses a daily footfall of around 30,000 passengers.
All passengers arriving at the station from trains coming from various destinations like Mumbai, Visakhapatnam , New Delhi and Bangalore are required to undergo Covid tests conducted by health department with the help of Corona warriors at platform number -1.
” The Covid tests  have been intensified from yesterday concerned over the possible third wave, ” said HK Balmuchu, director of Tatanagar railway station.

Sources said last evening passengers created a ruckus as they were asked to remain in queue for the mandatory RT-PCR test.
The health department is also carrying out Rapid Antigen Test ( RAT )
Officials of Tatanagar railway station informed that the situation is being constantly monitored and coordinated at all levels. Desks have been set up all over the railway system and the staff has been sensitized and educated about the subject. The collaboration and coordination with the concerned health authorities are also being ensured.
Volunteers are being deputed along with the help desk so that the workers do not face any problem. In view of the convenience and safety of passengers, adequate amounts of face masks, hand sanitizers and other materials will also be made available in all buses.

“The random tests at public places or area of arrival will help to identify the patient so that they can be quarantined to stop further spread.  People are not taking the virus seriously. Markets are flooded with people.   If the people continue to evade following the norms of maintaining social distance and wearing masks, then the number of Covid cases may increase further,” AK Lal, civil surgeon.
