Jamshedpur: The pandemic in Jamshedpur has entered a new phase of decline in cases. However, the administration is not willing for any type of let down and is focusing on testing and vaccination. So far 62482 people have been vaccinated in Jamshedpur.
The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in the city is around 5.56 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 5000 tests in the last 24 hours. The Steel City tested 5179 samples, of which, 241 turned out positive while 449 people recovered from the Covid-19.
“ The recent decline is a big relief for us. However, we do not want to give a letdown. Our focus is on three Ts Testing, Tracing and Treatment that led to controlling the prevailing situation. Moreover, the number of deaths due to COVID has also come down considerably during this period as only six persons died during the past 24 hours,” said an official of the health department.
Meanwhile, 6 deaths were recorded in the same duration. The continuous high number of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 5.56 per cent, the government data showed. The recovery rate has climbed to 90.22 % while the active cases have come down to 3945.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 323579 tests per million in the district. As per the records of health department out of 5179 people who underwent Covid tests in East Singhbhum 241 were found positive.
Over 5000 COVID-19 tests, including 1683 RT-PCR and 3016 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 90.22% while the mortality rate is 1.99%.
He went on to add that the administration has decided to test everyone in the district to prevent community spread of the disease. More tests would only help the administration to prevent further spread of the disease.
“Random tests were conducted at Sakchi market today. The positivity rate has also slowed down. People were motivated to undergo tests so that the spread can be controlled. During the test drive, we have seen that people are scared to undergo tests. They need to understand the more we conduct tests the fear of spread will get normal,” said another health official.
East Singhbhum district civil surgeon Dr AK Lal confirmed that death cases have reduced in the second week of May. “The recent tread is giving us hope. Even the number of positive cases has also reduced,” he said. “It is for certain that if the people start to pay utmost attention to staying indoors, keeping one’s hand sanitised again and again and wearing a mask, the Coronavirus has to go soon,” said Lal.
