Covid-19 cases rise slightly in Jamshedpur

City reports 21 infections, 15 recoveries

Jamshedpur, July 6: Covid cases in Jamshedpur saw an upstick on Wednesday, with the daily infections in the city rising to 21. Zero death was recorded on July 7. Earlier on Tuesday, 17 cases were reported.

City had been registering single digit cases for a week. The new positives in Jamshedpur took the Coronavirus tally to 51638.

15 people recovered of the virus on Wednesday taking the total recovery to 50511 while total active cases in Jamshedpur have gone up to 74.

Of the 74 patients still undergoing treatment for the coronavirus in the district, most are in home isolation, while some are being treated at care centres and hospitals. 

Of the 21 new cases, 8 are from Baharagora, 3 each from Ghatsila and Chakulia, 2 from Musabani and one each from Baridih, Kadma, Telco and Golmuri.

As many as 15 people recovered from the virus on Wednesday taking the overall recoveries to 50511 which accounts for a recovery rate of 97.86%, which is the highest so far.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 414989 tests per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 97.86% while the mortality rate is 2.04 %.

With 21 new Covid-19 cases, Jamshedpur’s positivity rate on Wednesday remained below 1%, as the city stayed on the recovery path after a brutal wave of infections between April and May. The positivity rate stood at 0.63% on Wednesday.

More than 3300 were tested on the day. Data from the state government’s daily health bulletin showed that the Covid-19 test positivity is 0.63%. The state, too, witnessed a massive fall in infections and fatalities.

The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 0.63 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 3300 tests in the last 24 hours. 

The Steel City tested 3324 samples, of which, 21 turned out positive while 15 people recovered from the Covid-19. The continuous high numbers of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 0.63 per cent, the government data showed.

So far in Jamshedpur 1124159 samples have been collected out of which 1104702 have been tested and 1053064 have turned out to be negative.
