Jamshedpur, June 26: Obtaining blood from blood bank through blood donor�s card or coupon will no longer be possible in Jharkhand. In order to get blood, the receiver will have to get it replaced through another donor�s blood. An order to this effect has been issued by Jharkhand AIDS Control Society Project Director cum Member Secretary of Jharkhand State Blood Transfusion Council Mrityunjay Kumar Barnwal.
In the letter sent to all district civil surgeons of the state, Barnwal said the donor card system should be discontinued with immediate effect. Blood should be replaced by donors, he added.
There are numerous blood social organizations in the city that organize blood donation camps on a regular basis throughout the year. Blood donors are given cards which can be used to obtain blood from blood bank. More than 100 camps are held in the city every year. Complaints of misuse of blood donor�s card were reportedly received from various quarters, sources said.
