Couple who eloped from Jamshedpur surrenders before police

Jamshedpur, March 9: A couple who had reportedly eloped from the Jugsalai police station area on February 25 appeared before the City Superintendent of Police (SP) on Monday and surrendered, seeking protection from the authorities.
The couple, identified as Zahid Hussain and Nikhat Gul, were subsequently sent to the Jugsalai police station by the City SP, where police officials are currently questioning them to gather details about the incident.
According to information received, prior to surrendering, the couple had released a video on social media appealing to the administration for security.
In the video, Nikhat Gul stated that she was in love with Zahid Hussain and had left her home voluntarily to be with him.
She also claimed that the two had solemnized their marriage according to Muslim customs. Nikhat further alleged that her life was under threat from her family members and appealed to the administration to provide them with protection.
Meanwhile, the police have taken the matter seriously and are questioning both individuals separately to understand the entire sequence of events.
Officials stated that all aspects of the case are being examined, and further action will be taken after completing the necessary legal procedures.
