86 positives on Tuesday takes state corona tally to 1435
Jamshedpur/ Ranchi, June 9: Jharkhand has been witnessing Corona spike with cases touching record high with every passing day.
After record breaking 206 positive corona cases on Monday in the state, 86 cases were reported on Tuesday, June 9, taking the total tally to 1435. Total tally in the state stands at 1435 till the filing of this report.
Cases in Jamshedpur is nearing 200 with ten cases added on Tuesday.
Of the new cases one case each has been reported from Dhalbhumgarh, Samyadih, Karandih and Govindpur while two case each came up from Mousabani, Agrico and Patamda. In Sidhgora Tata Steel employee along with his wife have tested positive, taking the toll in East Singhbhum to 193.
Tata Steel employee along with his wife returned from Uttar Pradesh on June 8 and straight away went to TMH. Their swab sample was taken and were admitted to the hospital. Their report came positive on June 9 they have been shifted to TMH COVID-19 ward.
On Tuesday 16 people defeated Corona and were discharged from the hospital. Total of 62 people have been discharged till date while 131 cases are still active.
All the ten have travel history and were in institutional quarantine. The positives have been shifted to TMH COVID-19 ward.
Positive cases in Jharkhand were reported from 14 districts on Tuesday including Simdega 8, Lohardaga 1, Jamshedpur 7, West Singhbhum 12, Gumla 12, Chatra 6, Garhwa 2, Ramgarh 7, Palamau 2, Koderma 16, 3 from Seraikela, Latehar 5, khunti 1, and 3 from Ranchi. The total active cases in Jharkhand now stands at 889 while more than 519 have recovered.
Most of the positives reported on Tuesday are migrants who have returned from other states. Jamshedpur which has been leading with the most corona cases in the state saw some good news coming it�s way on Tuesday when 15 patients defeated Coronavirus and were discharged from the hospital.
Earlier on Sunday 113 cases were reported in Jharkhand.
The highest number of 113 cases were found on Sunday, on Friday and Saturday, 93 and 91 positive cases were reported, respectively. In three days, 296 new cases have been reported.
The number of cases in the state was 521 on May 31 and by June 9, it has gone up to 1435, according to state health ministry data.The migrant labourers who returned over the last one month, 820 have contributed to the state tally.Till June 7, a total 87,721 people have been tested for coronavirus. The average positive test in every 100 test is 2.3 in June.East Singhbhum has become the new hot spot in the state with 154 active cases.
Sahebganj has become the 24th district in the state to be infected with COVID-19 virus. Three active cases are there in Sahebganj. Most of the corona positives are migrant workers. Most of the positives in East Singhbhum have travel history and have returned from other states.
Earlier, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 190 cases out of a total of 1435.
A total of 5,415 people, who returned to the state recently, are under surveillance and asymptomatic, while 4,084 have completed the 28-day observation period.
While 91,765 people are in various quarantine centres, 2,91,828 people are in home quarantine, the bulletin said.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
