Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district administration has assured Zila Parishad members about the inclusion of few more development projects for the ongoing year’s development plan. The deputy commissioner Amit Kumar said an increase of Rs 70-80 lakh was likely in the total funds going to be approved for the development projects recommended by the Zila Parishad members. Approval has been given to projects having a total worth of Rs 2.49 crore, an amount likely to be increased to Rs 3.30 lakh, said the DC.
The DC said that approval was given to projects having an estimated worth of Rs 2-2.5 lakh. These projects were recommended by eight Zila Parishad members, he said.
A demand for raising the funds allocated for each project to Rs 15 lakh was put forth by the councilors before the DC who said the hike in allocations could be up to Rs 10 lakh. The DC said tenders for the projects would be floated soon after getting government’s nod for the projects. East Singhbhum has got a total fund of Rs 9.5 crore for development projects. Most of the funds have been allocated to the MP and MLAs, sources said.
Irked over ‘meagre’ amount of funds allocated to the councilors, Zila Parishad chairperson Bulurani Singh and vice president Rajkumar Singh led a delegation of councilors today to the DC office. The councilors met the DC and handed over a memorandum to him seeking a considerable chunk from the total fund amount.
