Coronavirus: Three Tata Steel employee among 26 new positives in Jamshedpur, tally rises to 310

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 19: Jharkhand on Saturday reported 62 new coronavirus cases taking the tally to 2028. In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 310 with 26 new cases reported on June 20. Tata Steel workers without travel history have also fallen prey to the virus. Two permanent employees of Tata Steel Tube Division and one contract worker of Shared Services have tested positive for the corona on Saturday. The positives are resident of Baridih area and the district administration has turned it into containment zone. Tube Baridih and Baridih Basti has been sealed. 6 Tube Division workers who came in contact with Tata employees have been admitted to TMH.

Of the 26 positives in Jamshedpur, 7 have travel history to Delhi, 14 have returned from Ahmadabad and 1 from Kolkata. 8 positive person are resident of Dumaria, 4 are from Potka, 2 each from Sonari and Baridih, 3 from Chakulia while one each is from Agrico, Mousabani, Haldipokhar, Jemco, Mango and Burmamines.   All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.

Other positives in Jharkhand are from Simdega 17, West Singhbhum 2, Ranchi 2, Garhwa 2, Ramgarh 2, Koderma 5, Giridih 4 and one each from Hazaribagh and Gumla. Of 24 districts in Jharkhand, 8 are now corona free as all the positives in the districts have been discharged after testing negative. Khunti, Dhanbad, Dumka, Pakur, Deoghar, Bokaro, Godda and Sahebganj gave defeated coronavirus. With today’s addition Simdega is most affected district in Jharkhand with 317 cases followed by Jamshedpur with 310. The total cases in Simdega and Jamshedpur districts is 627 of which 197 patients in Simdega and 221 in Jamshedpur are now cured while 208 active cases are still there in both the districts.

Both the positives in West Singhbhum are resident of Anandpur block in Chakradharpur division. They returned from Gujarat couple of days back.  68 per cent COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered. According to reports it is now taking 28 days to double the corona cases in Jharkhand while national figure is 19 days.  

Jharkhand reported its 11th coronavirus death on Thursday. The person�s report came positive after his death on Wednesday. The 48-year-old man was admitted to Hazaribagh Medical College Hospital isolation ward. The deceased is a resident of Mungra village in Ichak block and was taxi driver in Mumbai who returned to Hazariabagh on June 14 with his family. He was admitted to the hospital on June 15.


Most of the 2028 cases have been found positive is migrants.
In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state.

Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. Earlier, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 310 cases out of a total of 1965.
