Jamshedpur, Sept. 1: With hospitals in the city running out of�COVID�beds�and occupancy reaching about 95 per cent, the administration has started making efforts to add atleast 100 new beds. The city has so far witnessed more than 7000 corona cases while active cases are around 3000. �
On the orders of Ravi Shankar Shukla Mission Director- National Rural Health Mission, Ranchi, Brahmananda Narayana Hospital in Tamulia has agreed to come up with a 30 bedded COVID care unit at the hospital. Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar has approached Meditrina Hospital at Adityapur for a 50-bedded COVID-19 facility. The district administration is feeling the pressure with COVID cases spiralling rapidly in the city and its vicinity. Moreover, Tata Motors Hospital is also working on plans to come with additional beds.
With bed occupancy reaching 95 per cent in most of the COVID hospitals in the city, the administration has started hunting for new health hubs. � We are looking for new options and want to reduce pressure on Tata Main Hospital (TMH) and MGM Medical College and Hospital,� said an official.
TMH alone manages a total 1087 beds for COVID-19 management which includes 661 beds for COVID positive patients, 112 numbers of routine isolation beds, 18 ICU isolation beds and 36 ICU COVID beds. TMH is equipped with 83 ventilators for the critical patients. This includes managing 100 beds at hotel Sonnet and 160 beds at hotel Ginger for COVID positive patients with continuous onsite monitoring by TMH doctors and nurses. TMH has a team of over 350 doctors and over 2000 paramedical staff.
TMH is also providing support to Tinplate Hospital and Jamshedpur Eye Hospital for COVID. Moreover, the hospital is in the process of supporting KGMH (once it is taken over from Medica) for treating COVID patients. KGMH is equipped with 100 beds including 25 critical care beds.
TMH so far has managed a total 2375 COVID positive cases out of which, 1809 have recovered and discharged. Number of active cases is 372. The recovery rate for COVID at TMH is about 76.17%
