Corona Boom: Jamshedpur records new high of 124 positives on Sunday

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, July 26: Jharkhand has become corona hot bed with state reporting record cases with every passing day. On Sunday, record 553 new cases surfaced in Jharkhand while five people succumbed to the virus. Three people died at RIMS in Ranchi, one person died at Paras Hospital in Ranchi and one death was reported from TMH in Jamshedpur. Of the three people who died at RIMS Hospital one is a resident of Itki, one from Koderma and one is a resident of Aurangabad in Bihar. At Paras Hospital JAP 2 inspector level officer succumbed to the virus. Another patient died at TMH in Jamshedpur.

For the first time in Jharkhand all the districts reported corona positive cases on Sunday.    

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 1400 mark.      

Undeterred by rising corona infection cases, people still give protective measures the go by. Traditional Pani Puri or Golgappa continues to attract customers any place, any time. Chances are, skipping protective protocol and partaking of this delicacy under threatening times may prove suicidal. Time is running out so beware.

With record 124 new cases reported on Sunday, July 26, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 1426. On the other hand 25 people who recovered from the disease were discharged from the hospital.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 124 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Sunday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.

Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 1, Chatra 28, Deoghar 1, Dhanbad 2, Dumka 12, East Singhbhum 124, Garhwa 17, Giridih 14, Godda 9, Gumla 38, Hazaribagh 33, Jamtara 5, Khunti 4, Koderma 58, Latehar 3, Lohardaga 29, Pakur 4, Palamu 5,  Ramgarh 6, Ranchi 96,  Sahebganj 16, Seraikela 8, Simdega 6 and West Singhbhum 34 taking the state corona tally to 8445.For 13 days in a row over 200 cases have been reported every single day in the state.

Altogether 5 deaths have been reported in Jharkhand on Sunday, July 26.

The death toll in Jharkhand stands at 88 while corona positive tally has climbed to 8445.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 1426 cases out of a total of 8445. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.

The cabinet has made not wearing a mask in public places a criminal offence under the Disaster Management Act and decided to slap a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh on the violators. Not wearing a mask could also lead to imprisonment of up to two years, the cabinet decided. 

The decision, officials said, was taken in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic after Jharkhand saw an unprecedented rise in cases of infection in July. The count of Covid-19 cases has tripled in the state since June, and officials have held the lackadaisical approach of citizens responsible for the spike in cases.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 4560 and fatalities at 88 while 3704 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
