Jharkhand reports 9th corona death, 80-year-old Gumla man succumbs to virus

43 new cases take state tally to 1807

Recovery rate improves to 51.27 pct in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 15: Jharkhand on Monday reported 43 new coronavirus cases taking the state tally to 1807. Jamshedpur which has seen a sudden increase in cases over the last 10 days recorded 21 new cases on June 15 taking the East Singhbhum district corona tally to 270. Of the 21 positive cases in Jamshedpur most have travel history. One positive has returned from Gujarat, 1 from Vijaywada, 2 from Tamil Nadu, 2 from Qatar, 1 from Gurugram, 2 from Mumbai, 2 from Kolkata, 1 from Gopalganj, 1 from Patna, 2 from Delhi, 2 from Odisha and were in institutional quarantine ever since their return to the district. One of the positive is a resident of Dumaria, 1 each is from Mousabani, Dhalbhumgarh, Kadma, Birsanagar, Sakchi, Agrico, Sindhu Road, Parsudih and Simdega. 

2 each from Bahragora, Golmuri and Sonari while three people reside in Sakchi.  All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.

The state also recorded its 9th death due to COVID-19 virus after a Gumla resident to succumbed to the infection on Monday. The 80-year-old man was under treatment at RIMS in Ranchi. At first he was admitted to Raj Hospital after suffering from kidney ailment. He was then shifted RIMS when his Coronavirus report came positive. 

Of the 43 new positives 21 have  come up from Jamshedpur, 4 in RIMS, 2 from Ranchi, 1 each from Hazaribagh and West Singhbhum, 6 from Khunti, 5 from Chatra and 3 from Lohardaga. The total positive cases in the state is nearing 1800. On the other hand,  the recovery rate in Jharkhand has improved to 51.27 percent after 89 patients recovered from the COVID19 infection, while 42 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.


So far, the total number of cases confirmed in the state is 1784. Out of 1784 cases, three doctors, nurses, and paramedics treating the patients and four patients getting treatment at different wards of RIMS hospital in Ranchi have been detected Corona positive, according to the state medical bulletin.

The number of patients recovering from COVID-19 is higher than the number of cases confirmed in a day. The recovery rate of patients in Jharkhand has been improving considerably after Corona patients are recovering in less than 5 days.

Bringing a sigh of relief, 905 people have recovered from the disease and have been discharged from hospitals, while 8 people have succumbed to death from COVID-19 infection. In total, there are 853 active cases in the state undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. Earlier, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 249 cases out of a total of 1784.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed his concern over the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Soren while talking to reporters said that the State Government is evaluating all aspects together to take a responsible decision on imposing Lockdown again.
