Jamshedpur, July 7: Police on Thursday claimed to crack several thefts and stealing incident that took place in the city last month and before that and arrested the main accused of the gang Prem Kumar Yadav , resident of Katihar district of Bihar.
Several snatching and theft incidents have been reported in the city in the last 8 months and the accused have been snatching money from the person by following them after they come out of the bank withdrawing money. Several person have suffered loss lakhs of money.
‘To crack several theft and snatching incident, several police teams were formed and with the help of technical team the police tried to identify the group members and raided several places for their arrest’, said SSP Anoop T Mathew.
Addressing the media on Thursday evening, Senior SP said, seven incidents of theft and snatching that have been reported including Rs 9 lakh theft from a car near Bank of Baroda in Bistupur, Rs 22 lakhs looted from a guard as he was taking the money from HDFC Bank in Bistupur to Sakchi, Rs 3 lakh snatched from a contractor taking the money from Bank of India Bistupur to Sakchi, Rs 3 lakh looted from a person taking money from HDFC Bank in Bistupur, Rs 2 lakh looted from a women taking money from SBI Bistupur to Adityapur, near KVC Showroom, Rs 2 lakh looted from the scooter of Kasisih resident and Rs 6 lakh snatched from a senior citizen women taking money from SBI Bistupur near Regal ground roundabout.
Informing about the loot gang, SSP said, around 70 years back a group of Banjaras from Rajasthan settled in Jurabganj under Koda Police Station area of Katihar district in Bihar.
There are currently 300 families residing there and have their own house and most of the youths are involved in looting and snatching. They live in lodges in different cities of the country where they execute the looting incident.
SSP further informed that police team including Anuj Kumar, in-charge Bistupur Police Station, Sriniwas, in-charge Golmuri Police Station, Animesh Gupta, in-charge Kadma Police Station, Rajesh Kumat, Mango traffic police in-charge and Chitranjan Mishra of Bistupur Police Station.
