Jamshedpur: Police here on Thursday arrested one Amit Kumar Sharma on charges of polygamy and dowry torture. They said the accused, a resident of Chhota Govindpur, got engaged to a girl at a Sakchi hotel despite being married.
When Sharma�s wife came to know of his intention to get married again, she called Sakchi women�s police officials at the hotel to stop her husband�s engagement.
Police said the girl�s family members had claimed that Sharma had demanded Rs 10 lakh in dowry from them. Sharma got married on 27th June last.
