Cops accused of high-handedness

Chandil: Several residents of Shaharbera in Chandil police station area have accused local police officials of trying to threaten them against making any statements against the officer in-charge of Chandil police station Manoj Gupta.

The OC was accused of abusing few villagers by using communal language. A villager, Mahavir Murmu, said the SP of CID Dr Tamil Vanan had submitted a report in the matter.

He said the cops were targeting villagers without any rhyme or reason in connection with sand mining activities on the banks of Swarnarekha.
