Convent School Jamshedpur launches ‘Season of Creation’ with eco-themed festivities

Students highlight panchamahabhuta, peace with nature and hope for future generations

Humanity must salvage Earth for future generations, says Principal Sister Steffi

Jamshedpur, Sep 1: Sacred Heart Convent School (SHCS) marked the beginning of the Season of Creation on Monday with a vibrant celebration dedicated to environmental awareness and harmony with nature. The Season of Creation, observed globally from September 1 to October 4, is a time to honor the natural world and commit to ecological justice. This year’s theme, “Peace with Creation”, emphasizes humanity’s deep connection with Earth and the need for ecological healing.

The celebration at Sacred Heart Convent School began with students, guided by their teachers, presenting a special program on the Panchamahabhuta—the five elements of nature. Through dance, poetry, prayers, and symbolic performances, they highlighted the urgent need to protect and preserve the environment.

Principal Sister M. Steffi A.C. addressed the gathering, reminding students of their responsibility towards the planet. “We must learn to see the bigger picture. Humanity is the most beautiful creation of the Divine, and we must remain hopeful for a thriving Earth and a harmonious relationship with nature. It is our duty to salvage as much as we can for future generations,” she said.

The school also highlighted the spirit of the theme through the message: “True peace is found when we live in harmony with creation. The Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space are not just elements of nature, but gifts that nurture and sustain all life. Our program Peace with Creation is a reminder that when we respect and protect these elements, we create balance, joy, and harmony in the world. Let us come together to celebrate this eternal bond between humanity and nature.”

The program featured several unique student-led initiatives. A cloth banner created by the students carried a heartfelt Prayer to Protect the Environment, replacing flex as an eco-friendly alternative. A symbolic dance depicted the five elements of nature, while another performance displayed universal symbols of peace. Students also presented poems celebrating nature’s beauty, while faculty members pledged to protect the environment, holding pink lotuses—the national flower and a symbol of peace.

To sustain the spirit of the celebration, the school’s Environment Club has planned engaging activities throughout the observation period. Students from all grades will participate, spreading the message of conservation and ecological balance across the campus.

The inaugural celebration was a grand success, leaving students inspired and eager to continue the journey of protecting nature while nurturing peace with creation.
