Jamshedpur: Controversy seems to have taken over the affairs at the newly started bus parking facility at the Mango bus stand, it seems. The owners and staff of various buses at the bus terminal have accused the contractor of the parking facility of charging whimsical and exorbitant amounts for each round of parking.
The contractor is charging unreasonable parking fee for parking buses. Moreover, the bus operators are being asked to pay for each trip throughout the day. This is going to burn a hole in our pocket if it continues like this, said a bus operator.
A mob comprising owners and operators of private buses raised ruckus at the gate of the parking facility on Tuesday demanding relief from the district administration. They said the district administration should intervene and take action against the contractor for charging heavy amounts as parking fee.
District administration had invited bids through tender for running the parking facility for the financial year 2014-15. Tarkeshwar Tiwary had made a bidding by offering Rs 78 lakh for the contract. The parking work started yesterday.
A drop gate has been constructed at the entrance of the parking lot. Security guards have also been deputed at the gate.
Tiwary said certain people having vested interest were raising hue and cry unnecessarily. He said parking fee prescribed by the district administration was being collected.
