Contrasting wins for Jain College, Karim City in RFYS Football

Jamshedpur: The College Boys qualifiers of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Sunday threw up strikingly different results with Karim City College upstaging RVS College of Engineering and Technology 4-3 via tie-breaker while Jain College demolished GIIT Professional College 4-0 at the Sumanth Moolgaonkar Stadium in Telco area.

The match between Karim City and RVS was evenly fought from the outset and ended in a goalless draw at the end of the stipulated playing time. This set up a nail-biting battle of nerves in the penalty shootout in which Sudesh Mardi put Karim City ahead by finding the mark while Zaiya Chisti missed for RVS.

Karim City frittered the advantage soon as Suraj Hansdah failed to convert from the spot while Vishal Hembram scored the equaliser for RVS. Mangal Tudu put Karim city ahead again from the third shot and RVS� Subhash Bandra too didn�t make any mistake. Biswanath Tudu and Sandip Kumar Roy ensured the scoreline read 3-3 after four shots. Sunil Mardi scored from the fifth shot for Karim City but Neeraj Mahato missed his chance and with it lost the match for RVS. Mangal Tudu was declared player of the match.

Earlier, Jain College rode on Faizan Khan and Parmanand Sardar�s strikes (two goals each) to march ahead. Parmanand got scored in the 10th minute while Faizan booted in two goals in quick succession in the 20th and 21st minutes. Parmanand sealed the match with his second goal in the 35th minute. Faizan was declared the player of the match.

The other two college boys� matches ended in walkovers with BA College of Engineering and Technology and Jamshedpur Co-operative College progressing as their opponents did not turn up.
