Jamshedpur : Thirty-year-old Sanjay Yadav was hit by a truck at the Ash Handling Area inside the Tata Power company at about 5 am today.
He was rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital where he was declared as brought dead. He was a resident of Jemco in Telco area.
Soon after the incident several contract workers of Tata Power agitated at the Sakchi-based MGM Medical College and Hospital demanding compensation from the company management.
Led by Congress leader , Anand Behari Dubey, the contract workers blocked the main gate of the medical college and hospital in favour of their demand of Rs 20 lakh compensation to the family members of mishap victim Sanjay Yadav and employment at the power company to the victim’s widow.
The blockade of the medical college hospital gate was removed after a police party from Sakchi police station arrived and forced the workers to move.
The management of Tata Power Ltd in a press note said: “There was an unfortunate incident at 5:00 a.m. today at Tata Power Jojobera plant.
An accident happened in Ash Handling Area wherein a truck hit a contract worker aged 30 years. He was rushed immediately to hospital where he was declared dead.
The worker’s body has been moved to MGM for post mortem. The company deeply mourns the loss of life and standing alongside of the worker’s family to cope up with this tough time. The Company is co-operating with the authorities in their investigations in reference to the incident.
